Seen the doctor

I sat in the waiting room for half an hour before I got to see my GP. I was in two minds whether to stay or leave. I've been in pain today, but I wasn't when in the surgery. It's at the times when I have problems that I know I need to see the doctor, but when I'm Ok I feel I'd be wasting her time and I should just get on with life. Anyway, I sat there and eventually got in. She was lovely. She knows the problems I've had in the past. I explained about how my eyes reacted to the foodpacks, the return of the bowel problems, and the amount of pain I've had since starting back on food. To cut a long story short, she agreed to refer me to a dietician, but then she decided to check out my tummy. That changed everything. She noticed that my abdomen was very swollen, and more on one side than the other, so I am being referred firstly to a gastro-enterologist. I need to contact the local BUPA hospital to make an appointment and then she'll do a letter for the consultant. So here we go again! I just hope there's not another colonoscopy on the agenda.

See, it's a good job there's people around you to keep nagging about going to the Docs!

It might mean some unpleasantries, hopefully not a colonoscopy, but at least now you've got a specialist referral who can investigate further and find out what the problem is.

Hope it's not too long before your appointment comes through.

Take care,

I'm glad you've got a concrete result from the doc anyway. It's always frustrating when nothing happens and you're left feeling a bit - well what was that all about??

Good luck with the specialist.

Hi Chris

Finally caught up with you. THANK YOU for commenting on my blog; lots of things to think about.

Anyway, I am really glad you stuck it out at the doc's and now you are going to see someone who COULD help you and identify the problems. Try not to anticipate the c-word...you might not need it. Without stating the obvious, make sure you have a list of all your symptoms - even ones you feel are so minor that they barely warrant a mention.

Just one symptom can make ALL the difference.

Keep us posted.

I'm so glad that she has arranged for you to be seen, it'll be so much better for you when they know what's up with you and they can treat it properly.

Keep your chin up.
