Good - I really hope they manage to find out the cause of it all.

I'll be thinking of you, mate.

Re Kyp, the border collie - don't know why she might bark at a tree but do know that Border Collies are amongst the very brightest of dogs and naturally very active. Trouble with this is that, as domestic pets, they often don't get enough stimulation so their behaviour becomes over-excited and unruly - chewing, barking, jumping etc. My friend has a collie cross and has "tamed" her by giving her lots of exercise; taking her to fly ball classes at weekend and practising in the park during the evenings; and providing lots of toys to play with. The toys are of the complicated variety where the dog has to work something out and this seems to have calmed her down to a point.

I personally wouldn't have a collie as I know I couldn't give one the constant stimulation and the amount of exercise they really need. I mean - as working dogs they are bred to fulfill a very complex and tiring function and then as pets they sit around doing very little - must drive them nuts!

I'm quite happy with my "thick" little cocker spaniel - her USP is fantastic communication skills - she might not be able to solve problems but boy can she tell you what she's thinking/wanting!! She's also a great mixture of endurance athlete - will walk for as far and as long as you want and couch potato - will sleep for hours. What a housemate!! Sorry, couldn't resist the Cocker Spaniel infomercial...

Hope that helps a little.

I couldn't comment on your latest post so hope you find this one. That's great news on the exercise front. I'm a firm believer that it helps and will make keeping the weight off easier too. Pilates is great but I've never stuck to it for any length of time. I would really like to find a class I could go to regularly but haven't done as yet. The machine sound interesting though.

Our garden is beginning to take over our lives! We were in the garden centre 3 times today!! Luckily it's only 100 yards up the road so not a major trip or anything. Expensive though. I wish we were at the maintaining stage though rather than the planting and building stage. It's so boring after a while.

Have a good week and take care. not long 'til your appointment now.

Hi Chris,

Good news about the Bupa referral, hope everything gets sorted for you.

I think what you said about the buddy dieting, I think this is the main difference for me having stuck to my diet for about ten times longer than any diet I've tried before. Blogging and having a focal point and somewhere to share and process diet feelings, highs, lows and the general feeling a belonging to a fantastic group and that stopping dieting would mean losing that so it's another incentive to keep with it.

Don't know what a pilates performer is but it sounds 'toning' so it sounds diet beneficial so good for you.

Hope you had a good weekend, not to flushed from watching the gardener I hope....tut tut...lol

Thanks for your post, my news isn't a pregnancy and certainly not mine if it was...lol, just that if I posted it on my blog another family member might read it and not allowed to know yet, and I'm sworn to secrecy, all will be revealed soon (I hope).

Take care,

Hi Chris, can't post a comment on todays blog for some reason.

I agree with the buddy dieting - I find this so much easier knowing that I have my group at group and also all my fellow bloggers at home --- to be honest I think it gives you less time to think about food or even eat just keeping up with all the blogs ... it's great!

Your pilates machine sounds great - I've never heard of it ... I hope it works for you, you'll have to keep us posted.

yes, I am also struggling to post on last entry.

I must admit the research makes sense and the LLC, group and mostly fellow Bloggers has really helped me this time around. If it was WW for example, I may well interact with people while I was there, but have never formed a buddy outside the group.

Having supportive people around day or night is fab when about to eat a big slab of .....

Anyway, keep us posted on the BUPA appt and am intrigued by the pilates machine.

Long live exercise!
